The 28th International Trade Fair at Gikondo officially concluded Thursday, with organizers and partners praising exhibitors for their creativity and commitment to innovation.
The event featured over 470 participants, including government agencies, international companies, private businesses, and local entrepreneurs showcasing products that were previously imported. Top exhibitors were awarded prizes and pledged to continue innovating.
Jean Bosco Mungwarareba, participating in the trade fair for the first time, said winning an award has motivated him.
“The trophy we received comes after presenting new products made in our country. It’s a great opportunity. Locally made products make us proud, and it gives us confidence and honor that we can succeed,” Mungwarareba said.
Another exhibitor, Arafat Nzaramba, said the fair not only helped him earn income but also gave him access to new customers and valuable business knowledge.
“The main benefit is meeting new clients, both here and abroad, who continue to follow up. Visitors come and take my contact information, promising to stay in touch. I also discover market gaps and immediately find solutions,” Nzaramba said.
Claire Mukeshimana, Director General of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, said the fair showcased many innovations and that future editions would feature even more creative products.
“In terms of innovation, we hope to see more exciting products next time, including electric vehicles and advanced technology that reflect Rwanda’s ongoing rise in innovation,” Mukeshimana said.
Walter Hunde, spokesperson for the Private Sector Federation (PSF), said the fair ran smoothly and helps organizers prepare for next year’s event.
“After the trade fair ends, preparations for the next year begin. The 29th edition is scheduled for July 28–August 17, 2026. Those participating now will receive invitations for those dates,” Hunde said.
Prize-winning exhibitors included Inkingi Art, Skin Paradise, NIDA, Irembo, BK, I&M Bank, HQ-Aqua Plastic Ltd, RIB, Movit, Ameki Color, BRALIRWA, RDB, MINICOM, EIJA Machinery Dedica, and Johana Product Ltd.
Although the 28th Trade Fair officially ended on August 14, activities will continue until August 17. PSF reports that more than 30,000 people attended the fair daily.
