Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva has called on Rwandan youth to confront those who disparage the country by sharing the truths they learned in the Indangamirwa National Civic Training Program.
Addressing 443 graduates of the program’s 15th cohort, who spent 45 days at Nkumba Civic Training Center in Burera District, Nsengiyumva highlighted the role of the program in rebuilding the nation after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
“The program is a homegrown solution rooted in our culture, training Rwandans to strengthen unity, share a common vision, and work together toward sustainable development,” he said. “We expect you to build on these lessons and contribute to the nation’s growth.”
Graduates, aged mostly between secondary and university levels, were urged to preserve the values learned in the program, embody Rwanda positively wherever they go, and resist negative behaviors including sexual immorality, substance abuse, and alcoholism.
Minister of Unity and Civic Engagement Dr. Bizimana Jean Damascène noted that since its inception, the program has trained 5,561 young people, including 105 studying abroad and 103 in international schools in Rwanda.
