President Paul Kagame on Tuesday received Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, chairman of the United Arab Emirates National Media Office (NMO) and the UAE Media Council, for talks focused on strengthening media cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting at Village Urugwiro emphasized the role of media in deepening relations between Rwanda and the UAE and advancing broader cooperation.
Before meeting Kagame, Sheikh Abdulla held discussions with senior Rwandan officials, including retired Gen. James Kabarebe, Minister of State for Regional Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Talks centered on expanding partnerships in media and exploring new areas of collaboration.
Both sides underscored the importance of media as a tool for supporting bilateral ties and contributing to regional and international development.
Sheikh Abdulla said his visit aligns with the vision of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to strengthen partnerships globally, particularly across Africa.
“This comes from our country’s firm belief in the importance of international cooperation and its role in promoting security and development,” he said. “This visit marks a new step in our strong partnership with Rwanda, opening doors for long-term cooperation and joint projects that build community capacity, help citizens achieve their aspirations and contribute to shaping a better future.”
During his visit, Sheikh Abdulla also met with Unity and Civic Engagement Minister Jean-Damascène Bizimana, Rwanda Governance Board chief executive Doris Uwicyeza Picard, government spokesperson Yolande Makolo, and Israel Bimpe, CEO of digital services platform Irembo.
